Becoming a mother

Becoming a mother has really changed me. I do not know if it was the struggle, the loss, the journey, or a combination of all - but becoming a mother has been the one gift in my life that has completely changed me.

It has made me believe in Miracles despite all the odds. It has restored my faith in God - and taught me that he really will watch over you. It brought me close to so many people that I never knew - who suffer the same problems. Its taught me how much joy can lay at the end of a painful journey.

Becoming a mother has opened my heart and my mind to the injustices of the world. My journey took me on a road where I watched mothers lose babies after taking a decade to concieve them. My path allowed me to see women yearning for a child, taking shots and treatments, hoping this month will be the month. Its allowed me to witness miscarriages - and to know a similar pain through my own Vanishing Twin Miscarriage.

I carried Zoey along with another twin who did not make it. Baby B miscarried at close to 12 weeks. Uncertainty was always known with baby b, as it was always behind. However, for the breif period of time after we finally saw the heartbeat, we thought we really might be the parents of twins. Baby B never vanished, and I always saw that reminder of the baby who just didn't make it.

I will forever be thankful for Zoey - she is my Miracle. Despite everything that I had to face -she is perfect. If I had to do it all again - I would.

I will never forget Baby B, it was a part of me. I will never get over it. It is in my foundation. I will never get past it - just grow from it. I will never forget my journey either, I will simply share my experience with the world - and hope that I can give a little of the strength and hope that was given to me.

Rainy Days = Rainbows

How cute is that hat?

So - we left the house early on this rainy Saturday and managed to get a trip to the park in before the buckets of of rain fell from the sky. Zoey just loves the park :) even though she is still small and it tires her out quickly- she really enjoys it.

This is a pic of the little princess at the park a few days ago :)

Isn't she getting so big. It's so hard to believe that in one week she will be 8 months old.

It seems like just yesterday that our journey towards parenthood began. It was such a long road that it isn't easily forgotten. Its amazing - all it takes is a remark or even hearing someone elses story and I can feel the emotions that I felt while sitting in the hospital baking zoey all over again.

Zoey was a miracle in every sense of the word, and we are reminded of that on a daily basis. She restored my faith when i had very little left. I let go- and let god lead me - and at the end he blessed me with her. I will never forget the journey even though it involved so much pain and sorrow because in the end we were blessed with an amazing little girl.

Wow - its been awhile

Sorry to have kept everyone waiting for an update for so long :) But - we have been so so busy.

Lets see - first we had EASTER. We started the morning off with church. Zoey loved how festive the service was with the singing and music. She fights to stay awake at church every week, and then always falls asleep during the last five minutes.

After Easter we had my sister Danielle, Will, and Carson arrive on Tuesday. I was so excited to see them since they haven't been to Jersey since my wedding ---- and I have only been to Florida once since then because I was busy trying to keep Zoey in the oven as long as possible - lol.

Thursday my brother, sister-in-law, Drew and baby Haley arrived. I was so excited to meet my new neice/goddaughter. We have been waiting to see her for so long. I also couldn't wait for Zoey to meet her baby cousin.

We had a very busy week with the Florida Family. :)

Sunday was Zoeys Baptism. The day really turned out beautiful. Her goddparents are Noah and Lisa (my brother and sister-in-law). It was a very joyous day. The deacon did a wonderful job, and many friends and family were present to witness the sacrament.

Tuesday all of the family departed, and we had to go straight to NYC. Zoey was doing her first catalog/advertisement spread for the United Colors of Benneton the following morning. We were super excited because thousands of babies were looked at for the job, and only 3 were chosen. She had so much fun and the pictures were absolutely amazing. I still can't believe how much they catered to her. Bennetons catalogs are more like brochures with all the babies getting full pages. Being an international company people from all over the world seemed to be helping with the shoot. The photographer was amazing - and now you can look for Zoey in the fall/winter ads and catalog. **** they show the catalog online on the website ****

Now - we are suffering through some horrible teething.

Thats all for now :) its a beautiful day and we are going to the park.

Happy Easter !!!!

SO - How did we do? Pretty eggs or what?

We have had quite a few busy days this week, but today was just EGGcellent. We dyed easter eggs. Zoey had a great time watching all the bright vibrant colors - and I am sure that next year she will show us that she has an inner PICASSO just waiting to come out.

Lets see what other highlights we have to post :

*Zoey had her checkup on Thursday ( she was 7 months old that day) and is now 16 lbs and 24 1/2 inches. She is such a big girl now. I think back to when she was a tiny little peanut at 3lbs 8 oz and just can't believe how much she has grown. The doctor says that she is doing wonderfully, and is very happy with where she is now. The last two days have been tough though because the side effects from her shots and teething have her very very cranky :(

*We are looking forward to seeing all our florida family next week. I can't wait to meet baby Haley!!!!!!!! We are going to have lots and lots of fun.

Time to get ready for bed - - - - > night night

Busy Busy Busy.... but some pics

Just Ducky!

Didn't mommy tell you "no riding in cars with boys?"

OK - so I am the camera queen, and I just can't post a blog without slapping up a cute little picytre of my little princess. I am addicted to snapping pictures. Maybe thats why Zoey is such a ham. 90% of the time or more she sees the flash and starts to smile. I just can't help it. Hey - the first step is admitting you have a problem.

I am so excited that the T-Shirts I ordered have finally arrived. I got Zoey a t that says "I love my cousin Haley" and my neice Haley a shirt that says " I love my cousin Zoey" How freaking cute is that...... I love it. I also got Zoey one that says "Sorry Angelina I am already taken" and a bib that says "George Bush makes me spit up". Yes, for those of you who may be wondering - I am shaping Zoeys impressionable mind to be a Democrat .... at least until she is old enough to know its the only way - lol. -------- and don't worry I will post some pics as soon as she wears them.

It all goes so fast

I can't believe how fast time flies in the mommy world. Last night as I was filling in some more of Zoeys baby book, and I was amazed at how little we have left to fill in. All of the firsts just seemed to have happened so fast . I can't believe that in a few short days (3) my baby will be 7 months old. (sigh)
Zoey has some more big news too. She got her ears pierced on Saturday and did such a good job. Mommy was so much more scared then little Zoey. Princess hardly made a peep :) I was so scared that she would cry in pain, and all the other mommys would stare me down thinking "bad mommy". I think she really is a Diva, and just wanted some bling bling.
We also got a call from her agent today. Zoey went on a "go-see" a few weeks back for the United Colors of Benneton and they want to use her. We are hoping that it all works out with the schedule and we are able to do it, but all of our family will be here that week and its much more important for her to spend time with them. Her agent is working on the schedule with the client, and hopefully they can shoot her according to my schedule. So, you might just see her in an ad.
Nothing else all that new. Just getting ready for the Floridian family members to arrive. We can't wait to see everyone - and we really can't wait to meet Baby Haley.

SO - its been awhile...

Ok - i am sure that everyone has discovered that I haven't been doing a good job keeping up on the BLOG. Life just keeps me and baby Zoey so busy that sometimes we forget.

Its official- no more trips to Jersey Shore for preemie issues. Zoey had her appointment last week, and since she is no longer on the Apnea monitor & has recieved all of her RSV shots, she is all finished. YEAH! Its so strange to think that I have been making trips up to JSUMC for an entire year. While we are happy that Zoey is strong now, we will miss all the great doctors and nurses that we have met along the JOURNEY.
Zoey now weighs in at 15 lbs 4 oz. WOW!!!!!! even I am shocked. Especially since at one time she was a wee little 3 lbs 8 oz. She is growing so fast. She has started eating jar foods and loves her peaches and bananas - its shocking, but she can eat a whole jar at once already. I think they are going to be her favorites :) Zoey rolls from her back to her side, but has no desire to keep going because she HATES being on her tummy. Lets see - what else!?! The little princess has started drinking water out of her sippy cup and loves loves loves it. She is getting quite good at it.
We are busy getting ready for Zoeys Baptism in a few weeks. Its an extra exciting time because all of my family from florida will be coming out. We are so excited to see them, especially baby Haley who we haven't met yet.
Thats about it - have to run..... until someone invents the self cleaning house, its on me. lol

No Cry Sleep Solution my A**

SO, after reading every book from "What to Expect the First Year" to "The Baby Whisperer" I finally decided to go with the "The No Cry Sleep Solution." Yeah - Right. I should have just left good enough alone.

Zoey isnt a bad sleeper. Some nights its a struggle to get her to go down, but most nights its a twenty to thirty minute job. The problem is she likes the nightlife. All my friends babies go down at seven and eight ... not my princess. She likes to party till Midnight!?! - and sleep in till nine or so. She is a teenager trapped in a six month olds body. We tried everything. Keeping her up. Putting her down fifteen minutes early each night. Warm baths - lavendar bedtime lotion. Singing. Rocking. Everything short of a labotomy.... and Nothing.

We found that we were trying EVERYTHING and in the end she was still going to sleep at eleven or twelve. Thats where the solution comes in. I majored in Psych. and took a zillion child development classes and I just couldn't come up with a solution on my own. So, I read through the books and found the "No CRY Sleep Solution". They made it sound so E.A.S.Y.

Eat - Activity - Sleep - Yourself ( wow - is even includes time for me.) I am supposed to put heron this schedule every 4 hours. Ok - i can do this. I didn't mind her old schedule , but this was going to get her sleeping earlier - with no crying. WOW- i am game :)

So, i woke up yesterday morning bright and early ..... headed to the nursery and sprung my princess from her crib. "Good morning sunshine- Wake up" .... this should have been the dead give away ... I was waking my perfectly sleeping baby.

All day we followed the schedule, and all day it went according to planned. Until bedtime. She cried forever, and didnt want to go to sleep. She was irritable- but finally I had her sleeping. I was amazed that after an hour long struggle she was asleep. Wow- this E.A.S.Y. thing was pretty easy.

NOT! My little one woke every hour. I think she was teething because nothing would work. I thought about letting her C.I.O. (The mommy world has all sorts of abbreviations) Cry-It-Out! , but we tried that once before and it just didn't work. Mommys heart breaks after about 5 minutes of hearing her little Zoey wail. So instead, I stayed up all night.

they should rename it the NO SLEEP CRY SOLUTION - because thats what it was for us.

So, I have decided that if Zoey is sleeping through the night (most nights) that I am not going to worry about it. If she wants to go to bed at 11 or 12 so be it. We have lots of time to put her to bed at 7 or 8 when she gets a little bigger. :)

Just Another CLOUDY Tuesday

Spring needs to be sprung. We have had enough clouds, we have had enough cold, we have had more then enough ice, and we even have had enough snow. We are looking forward to welcoming Spring with a warm embrace.

I used to not mind the winter months, but they are just not that child friendly. You bundle up the baby to take her from the house to the car ( whats that roughly 10 feet), and then you place her in the car only to have to shed a few blankets because she will overheat in the car. Ok! you are then ready to roll. Mommy then drives say 5 minutes to get to her destination, and then pulls out all the gear from the trunk. Stroller - CHECK , Diaper Bag - CHECK, Wallet- CHECK .... all while freezing her toosh off. Now its time to go get the baby out of the car. First though she needs to be bundled back up for that 60 second walk through the parking lot..... Ok - we are finally ready to make the mad dash to the store - lol - and Mommy is cold and tired. Once in the store the routine needs to be done all over - but BACKWARDS. Nice !!!! A quick twenty minute trip to the store turns into an 2 hr process - oh Spring ,.... Where are you?
The countsown in the Wong household has officially begun - T-23 DAYS and counting. Hopefully the calenday day will really be the official start of SPRING.

The weekend has come to an end ....

Its Sunday night and the weekend is over- Why do they always fly so fast?!? It seems like if you blink the weekend might just pass you by.

So, Anthony and I finally got up the courage to leave the house without baby Zoey. G-Ma came over to cuddle and spoil the princess and we got inside the RAV-4 and sailed into the night.
(OK - so it was 4:30 ..... that way we could be sure to be home to put the princess to bed...mommy needs little steps)

Anthony and I tried the fondue place (SIMPLY FONDUE) after Kristen and her mom said it was yummy yummy, and it was soooo yummy yummy. We look forward to going again. Afterwards we did a little shopping - for Zoey of course. We had to stock up on goodies for the first Easter basket. We can't wait for Zoey's first Easter.

Today we did the usual. Church in the morning, and Aunt Debs for family dinner at night. Zoey loves church. I swear she fights to stay awake every Sunday so she doesn't miss out on anything. I hope as she gets older she continues to love church... and be so quiet :)

Yesterdays trip to NYC

So, we went to NYC for the first time with Zoey yesterday. She had an appointment at a modeling agency who was interested in representing her. We figured why not check it out ....and ventured into the big city.

Zoey had so much fun from the very start. She loved all the whistles and bells of the train, and it wasn't before long that the vibrations put her to sleep. When she awoke we were already in Penn Station. ***Mini Rant here - NYC is the most unfriendly baby place ever. The train station had nowhere to change a baby - anywhere**** So, we bundled up and went across the street to MACYS which had wonderful children's changing stations, a reasturant, and easily accessible elevators.

After we got Zoey cleaned up, fed Zoey, and got ourselves a drink in the Cafe it was time to head on over to her appointment at Genration MM. We took a taxi because it was just too cold to walk the 17 blocks. Hailing a cab with a baby in tow isn't as easy as it sounds..... lol.... but we managed nicely....and got there quickly :)

So, we signed in and the doorman let us up. We were amazed at how friendly they were, and how happy Zoey was sitting on the agents lap. The agent explained that they only take on a small number of kids, and that they really thought Zoey would get lots of work with their clients. They commented on all her facial features - and seemed really impressed with her chin - lol. I was amazed at all the nice wonderful things that they had to say because I think she is beautiful because she is my baby, simple and easy.

The agency said that the big clients they have are Target, Babies R Us, Gap, K-Mart, Parenting, American Baby, and quite a few others that I just can't remember.

The agency only gets "paid" if Zoey gets work. No upfront money or fees. In NY all agencies get 20% of the 50-180 an hour that the model makes. So, agents look for the cutest babies who will get work.

Since its all regulated, when they do shoots babies only shoot for an hour or two - never more, and its good money in Zoey's bank account, for college or a car, we are going to give it a whirl and see how she likes it. Wish us luck on this new adventure :)

After the meeting we had dinner in the city, and took the train home. Zoey never cried the entire day. She loved the hustle and bustle - lol. She just looked around in amazement all day. Unfortunately, when she arrived home she was over-tired from fighting naps all day to watch in amazement at the city life.

Today Zoey is 6 months old

Where does the time go. Can you believe today Zoey is 6 months old. It seems like just yesterday she was a wee little thing growing and getting strong in the NICU. Now, she is 6 months old and becoming quite the big girl. She might not have baked all the way, but she really has caught up.

Zoey is now 14 lbs, which to me is so amazing, because at her smallest she was a petite little 3 lbs 8 oz. She has started eating solids off of a spoon - but more ends up on her face and shirt then in her tummy. Sometimes Mommy and Daddy wonder if any yummy cereal and prunes reached the final destination of her belly.

We are also happy to report that Zoey is now tall enough to play in her exersaucer. OK - so we all know that the gene pool was a little short on the height area - lol They need to make an exersaucer for petite babies - theres an invention idea :)

On the mommy and daddy front - we just love watching our princess grow. It simply amazes us to watch her discover the world.

So - we decided to brodcast the Wong Family to the world :) well, maybe not the whole world .... but definitely to our closest friends. So, check back often because we always have something going on.
